Dr Rita Irurhe is Chief Executive Officer of Sky High Medical Centre, with responsibility for clinical and operational standards across the Magodo hospital and the dialysis and intensive care centre in Yaba.
She took the organisation forward after the founders handed over, and has driven the shift toward continuity of care, honest communication with patients, and investigating before treating rather than treating on assumption. Much of what is now routine here, from testing before prescribing antimalarials to explaining a plan in plain language before consent, reflects that direction.
Her focus is on making a hospital of this size behave like a much larger one where it matters: theatre readiness at any hour, one record that follows the patient, and departments that speak to each other rather than passing a person between them.
